6.111 - Introductory Digital Systems Laboratory

Phase II Considerations 6.111 is a ``Co-op subject'', so reports written for this subject can be used for Phase II of the Writing Requirement. The report for Lab 2 will be reviewed for Phase II if you attach a completed Phase II Cover Sheet to your report.

Reports that receive either an ``A'' or ``B'' writing grade, according to the criteria contained in this handout, pass Phase II. A ``C'' paper does not pass. However, papers which receive a ``C'' grade (or lower) can be re-written and re-submitted.

Phase II papers must be written solely by you, so project reports are rarely suitable.

Each document you turn in will be reviewed for writing style as well as for technical content. Even if you have already passed Phase II, we expect you to do a professional job on your documentation.

Phase II Procedure

The procedure for submission and return of reports is as follows:

• Fill out a Phase II Cover Sheet and attach it to your report.
  
• Turn in your report to your Lab TA.
  
• Your TA grades the report and returns it the 6.111 course secretary.
  
• From there it is picked up by the Program in Writing coordinator who will review, correct and grade the report.
  
• Reviewed and graded reports are returned within one month by the Program in Writing coordinator to Anne Hunter in the Undergraduate Office (38-476). She processes the report, records the grade and, within 48 hours of receipt at her office, mails your report (and the Phase II Cover Sheet indicating your writing grade) to you.
  
• If you do not receive your graded report within one month from the time your TA delivered it to the 6.111 course secretary, contact the Undergraduate Office (38-476).
